“Je suis joueur, voleur, et j’aime la fuite.”
"I’ve stopped over in Luxembourg out of curiousity, on the way to Brusseles (another curiosity stopover en route to Amsterdam) after recovering in Nancy yesterday from a hell of a party where Joy Disaster yet again rocked and reminded me of why they are one of the best bands around, with no-less impressive sets from Toxic Kiss and Tchiki Boum."

My DJ Tour, 2009 press help!
I am currently on a massive DJ tour, and although I was supposed to be finished with the promotional material and press kits weeks ago, they are done NOW. Which is ok because i still have 4 months on the road full of DJ dates. But I need promotion on websites, magazines, blogs and the word on the street. So, Im writing all the media sources I know over the next few days. If anyone cares to make some suggestions, it might jog my memory (theres a lot). And if you are promoting or writing, heres the stuff directly.

Thanks for your help!

Hobo...I mean *DJ* Splatter strikes again!
Im getting ready for another extended DJ trip, kicking off in Canada, and then back to Europe. Ive booked Romania for starters. Id like to hit Athens, and a few other countries I've never been to, most importantly France, as well as several of the cities in Germany I've never visited, like Bremen, Stuttgart, Köln, etc. Finland would also be awesome. Italian dates are also garaunteed.
This time I am packing up the few things I own (stuff piles up over the years!) and will find a new place to live after I'm done travelling. I just wanted to show off the new Graphic and the prototype banner (the finished one is really nicely animated), but anyone with booking ties, I appreciate you getting in touch!

For the Canadian gigs in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal:

I've started reading 'The Three Penny Opera' by Berthold Brecht, I know it'll be a fast read in english, but I've got a book of Weimar era stories in german to read next, and I bought a used copy of 'Dune' as a backup.

Tomorrow I'm hopping on the train to Leipzig for NYE DJing, Im hoping this year will be better than 2008. In retrospect I accomplished a lot, but not what I expected, and not as far as I'd hoped.

Two new compilations for music lovers and misfits:

This first is just in time for the Holidays, Volume 2 of the Ghoul School Island of the Misfit Toys Xmas albums.

Heres what it says:

"Ghoul School, while its doors were open, maintained a tradition of always having a Holiday Event on the Wednesday of Xmas week, sometimes even falling on a Christmas Eve. We'd dig out the warmest fuzziest tunes about the this special season... but more usually how much it sucks! The Island of the Misfit Toys Vol. 2 CD is a collection of some of the best punk and comedy holiday songs, not so much to put a downer on your Holidays, but to compensate for the unavoidable cheer people are cramming down your throat... On TV, at work, on the street, in the stores, your family and friends... face it. You can't avoid it! So don't spend Christmas in the slammer for strangling the next sidewalk Santa you see, or punching out the next pointy, red capped jackass grabbing the last carton of egg nog of the shelf. Just press play with this CD, set yourself up with your favorite drink, and feel the Xmas Spirit melt away."

The second for your audio consumption is No47, my picks from November. Im looking forward to publishing December, I've already got some really great tracks together!

All of these mixes are available from http://www.marksplatter.com/mixes.php

Proud to announce my next film event: We've gotten really good repsonse so far from the small quotient of horror fans you can ever turn up. Ive been pulling up a hell of a lot of new music this week and writing reviews and cleaning out my processes for publishing information and writings... Its all so scattered. DJ gigs keep coming in, but i need to find something a bit more substantial. I'm at Ludicrous broke.

New DJ Mark Splatter mix
Ive been in the splatterlab compiling some new theme Mixes for your download and listening pleasure.
So far, this summer has sucked major ass. too much work, too much aggravation, too much anticipation, too much rain. BUT- despite that, i still have a feeling that...

I was notincing on my mp3 player, an essential part of my daily living, it was filled with some of the most depressing and frustrated songs, which could maybe be having an effect on my state of mind. So i decided to try a little experiment and load it up with as many feel good summer songs as I could. Drop these on your own iPod/MP3 player/iTunes/whatever and enjoy the rest of this summer along with me. grab a beer, head to the park and go pass out under the sun.

(click the image to download)
Download includes CDstyle cover and traycard (although i mainly dont intend these mixes for cd burning, so im going to have to think about an alternative digital distribution only artwork...).

The Tracklist is as follows. You can buy most of these tracks directly from iTunes. Bear with me as i figure out some ways to present this in a more flashy manner, that doesnt make people run or skim past.

Having an absolutely amazing time in London. The show on Wednesday was so much fun! Great bands, great friends, I only wish I got to talk to everyone else and meet all the other people that were there. I was really bummed to not get to say hello to Andi Sex Gang again, unfortunately I missed Uncle Nemesis, but still, unforgettable. And I just love being in London. Dont be surprised the day I move here. I did a feature Interview and photoshoot (to use the term liberally)with Joy Disaster for an upcoming layout, I cant wait to get started on it next week. I gave Daniel Ribiat a few CDs of my latest fav tracks, and and the afterparty was legendary! In fact, the whole time with Sara and Valentina has been really cool, they have a beatiful flat and totally hooked up with WiFi so I'm set. I just got back from dinner with Genie and Fabiano and an adventure over the London night bus system (which is quite good!)

Ruth is a sweetheart! Good luck at Uni! You little gorehound!

DJ Splatter in Creeperfest Lithuania w/ Cinema Strange, All Gone Dead and Miguel And The Living Dead
Ok, from now on, all the photosets I take are getting a blog entry to announce them, and hopefully soon my photo pages will have a better layout. till then its just pics of bands and some of my travel adventures!

So Lithuania Creeperfest in Vilnius was a fantastic success, even if the travel there was a bit harrying... Berlin is nowhere near Frankfurt am Main, people. Note to self. But getting there and back for 45 euros only is a great deal. Even if you are waiting in a train station for 11 hours. Schweinhaxe for dinner is consolation enough. But the city and the country were fantastic, the girls - beautiful, the people really fun and the drink and food amazing. Thanks to Tadas and Laura a million times, Im definitely going to go back.
It was great to share a plane with Lucas, Dan and Mik - reminds me of the forst time I went to Germany in 2001. Just the four of us on a nonstop flight to rocknroll. I didnt snap any pics of CS's set, but I did get plenty of All Gone Dead, Miguel and the Living Dead, and a few of the support bands Doppleganger (RU) and Daddys Dolls (LT), as well as some amazing backstage shots! Im in Berlin again for a week, DJing with The Scandals with live show from Gene Serene and Noblesse Oblige, finishing some album covers and starting some silkscreening of my Creepy RocknRoll designs and a ton of other stuff. Next stop, London, Florence, Milan, and Rome! Im working on Austria as well in April on my way back to Berlin!

Yesterday i cut my hair myself. mohawk is back. I meant to leave some of the sides to bleach but ill do that when it grows in. Cut. I finally bought a new pair of boots after some money came in! 8 hole docs, brand new! I havent had a new pair of boots in ages! Nearly all of my boots have been second hand or something. but i figure, nothing is as reliable as a pair of docs. I hope these last a bit longer. It was really awfull hanging out in the wet and rain and snow with canvas sneakers full of holes. In fact, I realized at one point thius weekend, all of my clothes have holes in them. My jacket, my jeans, shirts... Man I really need to take better care of myself.

Sean was in from Iraq for the past two weeks so swe got to hang out a few times, hes leaving towmorrow though, so we went out for dinner last night and a drink at the King Kong Klub. But as he leaves, Jenner arrives! So the party never ends! but I have so much work to do, I know for 100% certain I will not get everything i Need accopmlished. As always. Man, and here i am updating livejournal!I did manage an interview with frank the baptist, though.I wont bore you with my day in day out. Just suffice to say, I am stressed, and busy.

but i got some action.Collapse )

DJ Splatter is on the road again, leaving a trail of blood across Europe>>>
The spray begins in Berlin, over Poland, Lithuania, UK meeting up as DJ support with some of my best friends' bands, and finally coming to a simmer in Italy for an extended stay.

Just got back from Poland where the Miguel And the Living Dead w/ Last Days of Jesus show was berzerk! In Warsaw the horror punks, deathrockers and psychos can really give it to the moshpit floor. I havent felt such energie since the Fliehende Stürme gig this summer.

Berlin, Germany: Weds January 31st
Back at the White Trash Restaraunt providing unsanitary tunes and heart attack inducing (vinyl) platters. Come have a burger, chump.

Vilnius, Lithuania: Fri February 3rd
at Mulen Ruzas, Creeper Fest! (this is one of northeastern Europes biggest events, central to Estonia, Belarus, Latvia and Poland- plus, only a €50 flight from Frankfurt Hahn airport!)
Live: Cinema Strange (US), All Gone Dead (UK), Miguel and the Living Dead (PL) and more, plus DJs Mark Splatter, Nerve 69, De'Ath, No.Thing!

After that:

London, UK: February 14th (V.D.)

Live: Cinema Strange (US), All Gone Dead (UK), and Joy Disaster (FR) w/ DJs Mark Splatter and Cavey Nik spinning horror rock, death punk and batcave before between and after!

And in Italy:

Florence, Italy: February 23rd
Alter*Nite, as guest DJ spinning dark varieties of punk, alternative, electropunk, gothic and rocknroll.

Milan, Italy: March 2nd

Live: Skeletal Family (UK), Bohemien (IT), New Days Delay (DE), and Eat Your Make Up (FR)! DJs Paul Tired, Mark Splatter and MI-Decay crew!

From then on I'll be found in the darkest wine cellars, sweetest tiramisu bakers, coolest ice cream stands, sauciest spaghetti kitchens, drunken on the Palatino, or in jail! Tutto bene! Sono Ubriacco!

Along the way I will be sporting as much gear from my new Creepy Rock'n'Roll apparell line, caustic and abbrasive streetwear for deathpunks, misanthropes, culture geurillas and undercover motherfuckers.

New Years Eve went great! I took the train to Amsterdam from Berlin using a combination of offers that although took all day to get there, was cheap and I love riding on trains. kreepygrly and diamonddawg threw a great new years eve party with Nico and Marie from France. Some partners in crime were missed, for sure, but It was great to spend the evening in a small party with some of my best European friends ive made in the past few years. Thanks guys for putting this together! Pictures:
